About Jaime Vela

           Mr. Jaime Vela is a 1992 graduate from H.M. King High School in Kingsville, Texas.  He attended Texas A&M University - Kingsville and attained his Bachelors' Degree in Music Education in 1998.  In 2001, he received his Masters in Music Education from the same university.

       He is in his 19th year as a band director and is member of the Texas Band Masters Association and Texas Music Educators Association.  In 2011 he was awarded for his service to community by Fiesta Bee County and in 2016 he was awarded the Bell Award at the graduation ceremonies.  He is currently in his 8th year as Director of Bands at Beeville ISD were he has gain region, area, and state awards & recognition.

He has taught at all levels of public music education.  His current responsibilities are overseeing the entire band program for Beeville ISD, The Mighty Trojan Band, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Campus Winds, Mariachi Mestizo, and Classical Guitar.

 He began arranging mariachi music in 2004 and has published 31 mariachi arrangements under RBS Music’s “Educational Mariachi Series” and now distributed with JW Pepper.

     Mr. Vela feels that music education is one of the most important part of a quality education.  "Music teaches higher order thinking and mature communication practice that is essential for employment and uplifting culture in our society."
