AV PRODUCTION

AUDIO VIDEO PRODUCTION

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Recommended: Grades 10-12

Video production is probably the most universally known of all visual media and is an integral component of many technology applications. The process of editing creates a special mood, tempo, and pace to enhance the subject matter. Video production is not only instructional and analytical, but also artistic.

Audio Video Production is a year long class that focuses on creating short movies and visual projects. Students in the class will produce videos, taking each project from preproduction, through shooting, to post-production and editing. Students will learn the vocabulary of cinematography, video production/post-production and use this terminology competently. They will be expected to understand: camera operation, audio control, basic directing, lighting, and editing. In addition, students will learn how to work with camera and editing equipment. Students enrolled in this course will be computer literate and have experience with the basic electronic productivity tools. Though students will have some individual assignments, cooperative groups will be the main work pattern for the class. Being successful in this class requires all students to work in small groups.
