My name is Mr. Martinez and I am so happy to be here teaching at A.C. Jones High School!
I received a Bachelor of Arts in English with a Minor in Music from the University of Texas at San Antonio. During my time there, I obtained a lot of training on the techniques of writing and different styles of American and British literature. Those classes gave me a newfound love for reading and writing, especially in reading and researching the folklore of King Arthur. This love of Arthurian literature led me to Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi to pursue a Master of Arts in English in the hopes of gaining more knowledge of Medieval Literature. While I did learn more on Medieval Literature, I also gained a new love for literary analysis through the lens of trauma theory. This new love allowed me the opportunity to attend the University of Rhode Island Graduate Conference and deliver a research paper using trauma theory on the book The Tattooed Soldier by Hector Tobar.
Before coming to this school district, I was teaching as an Adjunct Professor at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. During my time there, I was responsible for teaching two sections of English 1302 Freshman Composition. I was also a Professional Writing Consultant at the university’s Writing Center. I was responsible for helping students, whether they be undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral students.
This year I am excited to start a new journey in teaching English IV Dual Credit. I am excited to bring my love of British Literature and Research writing to our seniors!
I am so excited to work with you all!
