I have taught at Beeville ISD for five years. This is my fourth year at A. C. Jones High School. Previously, I taught for two years at Moreno Junior High. In total, I have taught for twelve years. My course load this year consists of Lifetime Nutrition and Wellness, Dollars and Sense, Child Development, Child Guidance, and Counseling and Mental Health.
I am proud to say that I have come from a family of educators as my parents have a combined 60 years in education. I started teaching in 2006 at Alice ISD and moved to Royal ISD in 2009. I taught for one year at Sealy ISD before moving to Beeville ISD in 2013. I have taught at elementary, intermediate, junior high, and high school campuses. I have taught in all core subject areas. English was my primary focus from 2012 to 2018. With my Bachelor of Science in Psychology, I am glad to be entering into the CTE Department for Human Development and Family Studies.
My husband of fifteen years, Jay Viertel, is the CTE Assistant Principal at A. C. Jones High School. He has four adult children and three amazing grandchildren. They live in the San Antonio and Houston areas, except for one who lives in Nashville, TN. We have a yellow labrador, Sam, and a herd of cattle.
When I’m not in school, I am either working out at BTX CrossFit or working cattle with my husband on his parents’ ranch near George West. I also love spending time with my family in Floresville and traveling.
