Speaker- the narrator responsible for the piece being read

Setting- the time and/or place where the action occurs

Occasion- the special event and/or significant character arc

Audience- the target intended reader

Purpose- the intended reaction/action the author wishes the reader to have

Tone- the emotional context of the message

Theme- a main or central idea of the piece
