I started teaching at AC Jones High School in the CTE department in 2018. I teach Health Science Practicum (CNA program), Health Science Theory, and Medical Terminology.
In these courses, you will be learning basic skills in patient care, medical terminology, and a multitude of information in the field of healthcare. The education provided through this program will allow you to function in whatever role you choose to pursue in healthcare. Dependability, consistency, and punctuality are important in this field. It is essential that you understand in healthcare there are no holidays, weekends, and time off during a pandemic. Peoples' lives depend on you showing up to work. Professionalism is key and a vital part of our program.
I have been in the healthcare field for 30 years. I was a medical assistant/ophthalmic surgical technician for 15 years prior to becoming a nurse. I received my LVN from Coastal Bend College in 2006 and recently received my ADN-RN degree from Galen College of Nursing. I have experience in medical-surgical, orthopedic, ICU, and cardiac rehabilitation. My most recent nursing experience has been in long-term acute care hospitals and long-term care facilities (aka nursing home).
I have been married for 26 years to Marcelo Garcia who is a Freshman English teacher at AC Jones High School. We have three daughters, one travels for her job, one lives in Corpus Christi, and our youngest daughter is in the 7th grade at the Joe Barnhart Academy.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family.
